Job Summary
The position works with overseas agents, air and ocean carriers and domestic truckers to obtain various freight rates and review transport options to offer the customer quotes with various options in pricing and transit. The position also handles the actual coordination of the carrier booking including checking carrier availability, cargo origin, and confirmation of loading. Obtain ISF, commercial/shipping documents required for ISF filing, customs clearance, and processing of shipments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Daily communication with overseas offices to obtain freight rates and get updates on new bookings.
Respond to emails timely to ensure timely booking of pending cargo and address any challenges or delays.
Provide freight quotes on all modes of transportation to established customers as well as potential new customers.
Open shipments in Cargowise per department SOPs
Update customers of changes in carrier’s freight rates or services.
Update customers on shipments booked.
Coordinate with Customs Brokerage Division on imported goods.
Daily monitoring or ISF, commercial and shipping documents required and timely receipt.
Auditing of all documents for accuracy per department SOPs
Placing documents in Edocs in Cargowise
Issuing payments to carriers to ensure timely cargo release
Pre-billing & posting of charges and costs in Cargowise
Obtaining original or telex released ocean bills of lading prior to cargo release
All other assigned tasks relevant to completing logistics department work
Communicate with the customer regarding shipment details, requirements, and status updates.
Required Skills and Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Basic knowledge of Excel.
Efficiently manage desk tasks, including organizing and handling emails.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Effective oral and written communication abilities.
Collaborative team player.
Capable of working independently and maintaining desk operations to meet service standards.
Proactively communicate with the manager if service levels cannot be met.
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate internally, with customers and overseas partners.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
CargoWise experience preferred but not required.
Understanding and experience with international transportation, freight rates, and Incoterms.
Experience with FMC regulations and rate filing requirements
General knowledge of domestic’s transportation and trucking rates
General understanding of Customs Brokerage and Customs entry process including documentation requirements and import restrictions.
