RISK OF TERRORISM
AFFECTS AIR FREIGHT
The safety net
tightened around air travel last week as British flights to Washington and
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, were cancelled, while law enforcement officials
acknowledged that some delays were caused by mistaken identities. Mexican
authorities also reported another cancellation. South Korea’s national
police agency said it would deploy armed officers on individual US-bound
flights if warranted. Aeromexico flights from Mexico City to Los Angeles
were cancelled because of US concerns that it was a terrorism risk. US
senator Jay Rockefeller said officials are getting "an enormous amount of
much more than single-source reporting that is very specific." Users of
Air freight enjoy the speed and predictability of arrival times. Be aware
that the recent cancellation of flights may be a precursor of the future.
Timelines for cargo arrival can be disrupted when it is least expected.
